09h00 – Totally overcast and dull it continued to rain overnight, gently but steadily, just what is needed. P is off on a new 20km run.

10h00 – Purged the heating system of air again this morning it being off all last night.

15h00 – Finished installing a bleed valve for the underfloor heating on the upper mezzanine – ‘job done’ as they appear to say in the UK now.   Heating back to normal, visitors due soon.   Roger, Veronica, Frances with Mick, Jill, Ben and Charlie all came to visit and have afternoon coffee and cakes.  P had made a splendid cardamon cake which tasted really fruity and juicy.  She said there was no fruit in it mainly cardamon and cinnamon, the base was polenta.

09h00 – RAIN, at last a good steady rain.    Today is also a public holiday in France ‘Assumption’, a catholic holy day.

11h00 – Off to Béon via the ATAC at Saint Fargeau to look at how to wire in a new cooker at Béon.   We had lunch there and got back home early afternoon.    I had left the heating on during the morning after it had been resting overnight.   The idea being to purge any remaing air and test for leaks.

15h00 – Just one small sweat of a leak in the main bathroom on the Acova towel radiator, these have all had the same leak in their time.   It is so easy to disturb one of the four screw connexions on the bi-valve.

10h00 – The pan for the day is to correctly connected the underfloor heating on the upper mezzanine.   So its of to Gien to buy paint for the Kitchen walls, a shade of orange that has to be mixed.    I would also buy plumbing fitting and get a remote thermostatic head for the mezzanine heating, Comap brand.   The real plumbing supplier is Gien was closed, it was Saturday so I bought what I could from Brico-marche.   I got I think all the right bits and P got her paint.

16h00 – Great stuff, the upper mezzanine underfloor heating is working with no leaks.

19h00 – P is off to Joigny with Vero, more singing.   I had a night in with the TV and Wallander in Swedish.

09h30 – Today is the day for connecting up the upper mezzanine underfloor heating.    I had bought all the parts last year.

14h00 – No a good job, soldering, push fits and screw fits in copped and PER (plastic).  A really messy job and a few drip leaks where PTFE tape was used.   I was NOT pleased with he result and decided it had to be done again using the existing valves for the lower mezzanine.   The result would be only one set of valves for all the mezzanine heating.  So  a list of parts I needed was made.  P said she needed paint so should we go to Gien to get some.   We decided to fix the leaks as best I could and shut off the heating but get the hot water back on then go to Gien tomorrow.

10h00 – So, its definitely the day to drain the heating system.  This was achieved.   The towel radiator in the kitchen was removed and laid outside on the table.   This was a good opportunity to see how it all connected up and came apart.  These Acova radiators have always been a mystery.
