09h00 – After breakfast Grant gave me a hand moving and cutting a huge sheet of MDF, it was 2mx2.4m. They all went off to Bléneau market then Rogny les sept ecluses, then Gien and finishing at Briare before returning back here.
16h00 – Listening to some music and Grant demonstrated the Music Identifying Software on his HTC mobile phone, I was impressed.
19h00 – Elliot amused himself with the crazy golf and we chatted through the days adventure.
08h30 – No Calico for breakfast. Cloudy but dry, forecast suggests the same all day, be good for walking. Current temp 19°C, yesterday high 24°C overnight low 16°C.
12h00 – Grant gave me a hand with the huge sheet of MDF and we cut it up to make a cover for the oil tank. Grant, Sam, Maisy and Elliot went walking to the village and planned to use the Rives des Bois footpath.
08h15 – Overcast 16°C, high for the last 2 days was 24°C low was 11°C. Will be showing the campers to the baker’s and supermarket then off to the Educational Farm’s ‘Open Day’ – Les Grenouillettes, it’s a farm, a gite, a brewery ….
15h00 – Back from the open day with 6 bottles of Kate’s prizewinning beer. It was an exchange for some British beers I took her. We bought some chocolate from a local man who gave us some chocolate pearls and told us to try just a sprinkling in some champagne. Not having any champagne we did try them in some Cremant de Bourgogne, the result was remarkable and really nice. We’ll do it again.
18h00 – Mark Cavendish won the final stage of the Tour de France, I had my placard at the gate, WELL DONE CAV.
23h00 – Been hedgehog and glow-worm hunting with the Borroff’s. Found 8 glow-worms, no hedgehogs and one really smelly dead mole.
11h30 – Up and about, Tim came to visit this morning to say thanks for helping with the sheep yesterday. Tim is German shepherd (a human not a dog) and has just started a 3 month provisional contract with Didier the farmer. So he stayed for a cup of tea and a joke telling session, so different from a French visitor. Turns out he’s has a Scottish girlfriend and seems to like all things British ???
Fine day, partly sunny but quite cloudy.
19h00 – Grant, Sam, Maisy and Elliot all arrived this evening after a long trip and a walk around Paris. They all settled in and we shared a late night beer from the Thomas Beckett Brewery* at Sens and glass of Petit Chablis by a camp-fire.

23h00 – New series of Wallander in Swedish on BBC4, missed the start of the 1st episode but set to record the rest all 13 of them.
08h30 – Another nice cool night, temp 16°C, overnight low 16°C, yesterday’s high 23°C. Sunny and bright, some cloud, a really nice morning.
Veroica
The Brazillian music by Veroica at the Chateau de Ratilly last night was very good. She is a talented guitarist and the noises and sounds she can make vocally is impressive; brass and percussion all from her lips. Mimicking bird song and whistling, so very, very delicately – fantastic. Her intro was a song about her own history in a MPB (Musique Popular Brazillienne) style.

We met up with Christian and Claire Sauvage at the event and we spent some time in one of the music rooms with Christian* post concert. There’s a photo of Christian and P as Duo Rivages on his ‘animations page’ . (* – this link has music that starts by itself).
A Challenge – ‘Put Christian in front of a piano then try and stop him playing’.
18h00 – Been painting walls this afternoon, got back just in time to find 200 sheep ready to attack the vegetable patch. Helped the farmer get them back to the field. P’s off singing tonight in Joigny, let’s hope it doesn’t rain as its outside. Thunderstorms are forecast.
